study of three islands
Islands of Maine
Documenting a small island is similar to an artist drawing the human form. The artist needs to carefully observe a model’s relationship with their surroundings in order to represent the subject accurately. The ocean clearly defines the essence of an island, in this case, the model. In contrast, an island is not an expansive landscape like a desert. The sound of the earth’s tides gently caresses the edges of the shoreline. A small molecule of terra firma in the midst of an expansive ocean. Moisture saturates the atmosphere providing a soft dream-like setting in the photographs.
